In the same way a car always works better with spoilers, striped paint job and blingtastastic wheels, Discover decided to take the bog standard iPhone, marry it to an iCarte case and hay presto, you create the iPhone 4S+(NFC) .

With the iPhone being the device of choice for the corporate crowd, rolling out an NFC payment trial was never going to happen with BlackBerry, Symbian or Android handsets.  So cased up with iCarte's secure NFC cover Discover is running trials of it's pay-by-wave service (Zip!) in Chicago and Salt Lake City.

Ticks all the corporate boxes but shouldn't they have tried it out using a proper NFC handset, Google Nexus S for instance?
